But instead apply to the whole of the material world, the whole of creation. For, to occultists, (and many modern physicists), how the world is relates to our average evolved ability to perceive it. Thus, as our mind evolves beyond its current level, so will follow all of creation. Things exist in the way they do because that is the way we perceive them.
